Hehehe, i remember the mad farming of Ascalon creatures for Candy Canes. I eventually just took EoE to the Grawl outside Surmia and 1 kindly dropped me a black dye while i was at it. I still have about 750 candy canes left over, i just can't be arsed to sell em.

Sorry to burst your bubble but if your an intermediate-pro player with only 600G you either:
Salvage a lot AND Identify a lot
Buy a lot
Because no int-pro players stick with 600.
My stats:
Time: ~125ish on W/E (been playin since the beta of GW1)
Moneh: 6k on W/E

LOL. Your post amuses me. My post said, 600 hours, not 600 gold. I have around 30-40k in storage for all 6 of my characters. Admittedly, I did spend a lot.

Your mention of Salvage and Identify is funny, the only reason I made that kinda dosh in the first place was indentifying white items and watching their price increase 10-110g before selling.

i didnt read all that but ive played since a month after it came out.. reached 1 mil gold a few times after about 5-6 months.. got multiple 15k/fows.. lots of items and stuff purely by trading (i dont even know how to farm) and chest running.

so yeah its very possible without ebay.. tho ebay is the way most rich players go.

and now? im broke.
pathetic right (damn factions)

I don't even buy/sell anymore. I have about 900k spread over 3 characters + storage, and almost all of it is from straight up grinding. I made a couple runs in the desert yesterday to test out me new Sentinel's set, and just zone-clearing Hydras and Sand Drakes netted me over 20k. That's just gold and items and trophies dropped on the ground. That took a couple hours to do, but there are places where you can make a lot of money a lot faster. I'm a very casual farmer, I just like to kill stuff and making a little gold happens to be a side effect.

Saying that everyone with money got it from ebay is really silly and also insulting. It's an insult to people who got their gold honestly.

I agree. I never have had money problems either although I spend a lot too.

I also think that the two concepts the OP brought up aren't mutually exclusive. I think many honest players work for every penny they get. I also think there are more EBay gold buyers than we might be comfortable admitting to.

Where to people get all the cash!? I don't believe for a SECOND that they're sitting in town buying and reselling things to make that kind of coin, nor do I think it's possible to "farm" for this kinda cash.

I dunno, seems as if everyone's a millionaire.

I like to browse eBay for GuildWars stuff to view the skins on items, and see how insane some things are priced. At the moment, eBay gold is about 74.95USD for 1000k, 3 weeks ago it was 38USD for 1000k.

This indicates an influx of people buying. So, I'll have to assume the greater population of GuildWars players is eBaying it, then saying they "farmed" it. It's a shame really...

Why?

Because without eBay, things wouldn't sell for excess of 100k often, or possibly at all. Shame really. Just want a Gothic Sword with +5 energy mod for my pretty Necress...

Rant ended

I was able to farm 400k+ in 1 month from solo UW, FoW, and other places around tyria with my 55hp monk. Its boreing but thats how its done.

I have spent a few million on my characters over a year and never got a gold from Ebay. My trick was team farming. I played with a group of freinds who were rather good at GW and told good jokes while we did SF/FOW runs for a few hours each day. I averaged over 20k an hour in the end and had a very nice time and a lot of laughs.

The people I really feel sorry for are solo farmers. Soloing griffons with a 55 for hours seems like suicidal behavior to myself. If I did that for a week I am pretty sure I would have started to hate this game.

BTW I am dirt broke right now because I refuse to sell my horde of ectos at such low prices. I am struggling to buy my Kaineng Center armor with runes on my new characters actually.

Who cares about being rich anyway? It is just for vaniety and EXTRA fun. The game would be great even if all characters wore plain brown rags.

He meant the trader reset in July, which caused people to buy ecto for as low as 100g. They didn't rollback the servers then, so people stayed rich. They only rolled back a few months ago, because it was an error (or so they claim) at that time.

with the way the market is now; there are more moderatly rich players than ever...but the divide between the average player and the mega rich player, is only getting larger.

I think, farming ectos
You can easily convert your ectos to plat if you want to. Ecto is like the next monetary unit above platinum.

D&D style = copper -> silver -> gold -> platinum
GW: gold -> platinum -> ecto
and who knows ecto -> amber <--- hehehehe

Seriously, you just lost any right you ever may have had to call anyone a noob.
BIG foh-pah on your part, not knowing about the trader balance in July, and then calling someone a noob because you didn't know about it.

If you're not going to be mature, then go back to preschool.

believe me it's quite easy to make that kind of money... U just to be lucky and have a nose for things.

2 months ago, I was farming monet to reinvest in celestial sigils because I was sure that with the new halls coming with factions, they will be sought after once again and I knew for sure that only a handful of players were able to win them in HoH... So I spent all my money buying sigils, some for less than 10K. Not so long ago they went up 20K... I let you do the math, most of the time I sold them back for double their initial price...

Now I am rich again... Making money in GW is like reading a financial newspaper, just look at the forthcoming updates and invest your hard earned cash.

It's easy. And if at first I had to spend tedious hours to farm, this kinda life is over now... I am just using my money to make more profit, and once in a while I buy myself a nice item or armor.

made all my cash either with drops (most of the time) and some trades
  • i dont bother with crafting mats, take countless hours to gain a few ks
  • i dont wanna hear about greens anymore... total junk to me, might be worth something the 2-3 first days cuz it's new, then, ..worthless
  • ebay is crap, u can drop make cash easily by playing the game
  • bots: see the line above
  • i dont bother with scam / buy low=> sell high
anyway, it's getting way to annoying to trade in-game everyone is selling stuff, u dont see WTB msgs anymore, marked is totally flooded now

I'd just like to point out that this is a classic case of not knowing what you're talking about and getting burned. When you haven't been around for a long time, do some research into events that happened in the past, or don't comment on them.

i dont think there is millionaires everywhere. and whats all this talk about people not making money from power trading roflcakes. I know tons of people including myself who have made millions from it lol. when i acually needed to make gold i could sell items at a 200k loss and still make a killing. gg, learn about the game before you post stuff you have no idea about.

EDITED. You really don't need to flame people's skills and originality.

Prefactions I woulda agreed they had to grind ALOT for stuff like that, or so Ebay.

But Factions changed everything.

Just under 2 hours of off and on farming and I made 50k profit.

Also ALOT people just got their brithday present minis, which gave ALOT of people 100k+ just recently.

As long as prices dont get ridiculous thus forcing newer players out of the game as they cant compete to buy things I say let people be millionaires and maybe give them an emote to show it off! It can only be as annoying as those dancing spirits
